Makies meet VVIPs!



Yesterday in NYC, Prince Harry and British Prime Minister David Cameron met the Makies! Such an honour for us, and such FUN… it was so hard to keep schtum about this while it was in the works.

We were invited to showcase Makies as part of the ‘GREAT Britain / Innovation is GREAT’ campaign, and you can probably tell that Jo had a GREAT time introducing our customisable, 3D printed toys. Prince Harry liked that we got the detail right on Harry Makie's beret, and if the PM starts wearing his hair slightly differently, well, you'll know why! smile

I'm sitting next to Elouise as she outfits our Makie troupe for Geekopolis. Have you ever tried to NOT stare at someone making tiny little clothes? Not possible. I can't touch type for beans, so I'm staring out of the corner of my eye as she whips up stuff like this:

Shortly swooping into Geekopolis


In just a few weeks, 25/26 May, Makies will be making their French debut at Geekopolis: a fantasy, game and technology nerd's paradise in Paris! Preparations are underway: I'm whipping our stand into shape and printing up posters (en français), Elouise is making special little outfits and Jo is brushing up on French road signs. It's all go, folks. smile

Ahhh, Paris in spring. Allons-y!

New Makie boots, sneaks and wedges!



Hey guys, here are those industrial boots you wanted - cross 'em off the wish list!

Several other popular requests are still in the works, and in the meantime we've listed four more styles. including an unbelievably lovely pair with wings. No joke! Go look. smile

For now, they're only available in white, so get those paints out! Colours are planned; we're eagerly awaiting swatches now. Any preferences?

Next stop: Newcastle!



We're headed up north on Friday for a weekend of makery fun at Maker Faire UK - wanna come up and see us?

I'll be on our stand from 10 to 5 on Saturday and Sunday along with Ed, dazzling Art Director, and Chris, astonishing Director of Toys. Ben, incredible Senior Developer, will be around too, and incomparable Alice will be giving talks about what we do, at 3.30 pm both days in the Science Theatre. Between us we can answer any question you may have. Anything. Just try us. smile

There'll be Makies to play with, doll designing to do, and freebies to scoop up. Hope to see you there!

Shop update: well red knitwear



It might be April, but your Makie should always take a jumper, cos you never know. (Actually, here in London, we do know: jumpers needed!) Matching beanie for keeping the wind out of little ears.
